Have you seen the traffic in Korea? Have you ever wondered what causes traffic? The amount of traffic on Koreas streets is large. The traffic is caused by one main reason, rushing. Korean people tend to always rush things. They always rush to get to their destination quickly. Even when walking, they do not wait and hold open the door for people behind them, but slip inside to run to where they need to go.
For instance, when driving, cars sometimes speed up at a yellow light, and end up crossing the street at a red light. People could be crossing at that time, and if they were unaware of the car, and crossed just a few seconds too early, then they would get hit by the car. This sort of action in Korea should be stopped. It is dangerous, and unnecessary. Also, taxis and buses cause a large amount of problems in Korea. Taxis and buses make unnecessary turns and sudden cuts, which cause a large amount of traffic wherever they go. Instead of driving in a lane closer to the bus stop, they drive wherever the lines are shorter, and cut across to the other side in order to reach the bus stop. This cutting across lanes causes other cars to stop, and make space for the large bus. Other times, bus drivers take up two lanes near the bus stop, blocking up two lanes and not allowing cars behind them to move. Bus drivers are also very rushed, as a common belief is spread around that bus drivers make more money for each round the make. This is unsafe for the bus driver, and even the passengers, because if the bus driver rushes and speeds up at a yellow light, he could crash into another car and hurt everyone in the bus. Taxi drivers also cause problems similar to those of the busses. One example of a problem they cause is that they continuously change lines instead of staying in one line, causing cars in other lines to stop and make space for the taxi each time it attempts to change lines. They also speed up at a yellow light, instead of slowing down, which could prove to be very dangerous to those sitting in the taxi, and the driver. These two vehicles cause most of the problems in Korea with traffic, and are dangerous to drivers, and even those that are walking. This many people should not each have a very important life threatening situation, in which they must all rush to their destination.
As the author of this pamphlet, I believe that we should create more cross walks that go above land, rather than on it. This way, people that want to cross the street can pass above the cars, instead of risking injury from rushing cars. Also, I believe that the people of Korea should talk to the government about creating more traffic cameras, in order to catch people doing this. They should also talk to the government to create a stricter driving education program, and to create and enforce new and stricter laws. If these steps are taken, then this would help there be less traffic, and people would get to their destination faster than they would have while rushing, and with less of a chance of injury.
